The bachelor episode 5

It’s week 5 of the bachelor This week the group is in Khao Lak, Thailand and it looks absolutely beautiful.  I just love the views it’s so Stunning. I mean I would love just to go see the view .

Let’s experience something new”

Heather gets the first one-on-one date this week and she is beyond excited.  Her open mouth excitement is a little over the top for my tastes and their initial interactions seem a bit forced.  In fact, I think their interactions seem a little “first date” to me and I don’t get the natural chemistry between them that I see with other girls.Their boat tour of the rock islands is so phenomenally beautiful and definitely something that I’d love to do. Topped off by shopping in a floating city–how cool! the “Never Been Kissed” tension is palpable the entire date and is totally the elephant in the room.  The scene of them sitting on the dock taking in the scenery had the potential to be romantic, but just felt totally awkward.I appreciate Heather’s explanation about why she hasn’t kissed someone yet, but I’m in shock that she dated someone for 8 months without kissing them.  Particularly since her reasons aren’t religious based, and she isn’t waiting until she finds the person she wants to marry.  If he wasn’t a person that she wanted to kiss, he probably wasn’t a person she should have kept trying with for 8 months. There were a couple of scenes that stood out to me, that highlighted consent in a relationship and I really liked those moments.  Possibly influenced by Colton’s relationship with a victim of sexual assault, or possibly because he was raised to truly respect women (maybe both), Colton showed the right amount of care and respect for Heather and her experience and perspective. For example, he asked her “do you blow kisses?”.  He didn’t just assume that a lesser form of kissing would be okay with her.  And later at dinner, he brought up that the “moment” of a first kiss is a big deal and that he didn’t want to take that from her if she didn’t want it.  Though he didn’t come right out and say “can I kiss you?”, he said that he felt that kissing was part of making sure that you were on the same page in a relationship and she said “I want to move forward”.  To me, that was the permission he needed to kiss her.And then, yep! They kissed under the fireworks on the beach. Heather said she wasn’t waiting for a magical moment, but you really can’t get much more magical than a date on the bachelor, so she got her fantasy.I really don’t see Heather making it to the end, but I think she’ll be around a couple more weeks at least.

Elyse Situation

I completely understand where Elyse is coming from. I know it might be hard for other people to understand why she so upset after only having one date with him and then hanging out with him in groups a couple other times. Out in the real world it would be absolutely insane if someone got this upset after only spending that amount of time with a guy. We would think they were crazy! But what you have to understand is that on the show you invest so much to take time away from your life to be on it and then when you’re on the show the producers have you talking about or basically thinking about the bachelor 24/7. I can really mess with your head! And think about what she said. She said that she wouldn’t be able to except her proposal after sharing her time with him and other girls over the next few weeks. Doesn’t that make complete sense?! Really the insanity is getting engaged after a guy has been dating multiple people including you for a couple months. Right?!

Will our love survive?”

On the group date:

Demi, Caelynn, Hannah B, Sydney, Tayshia, Kirpa, Nicole, Onyeka, Hannah G, Elyse.  Cassie get’s the one-on-one and everyone is really excited for her.

A jungle date! Like the wilderness date on Arie’s season, the girls must have been given shoes, pants, and the same white shirt.  Whether they choose to wear it is up to them, obviously, but there was enough similarity to think they were gifted some outfits. The jungle looks cool, but it makes me think of Jumangi. How many deadly things are lurking in the underbrush. They eat bugs and grubs and worms (well, Hannah B seems to do most of the eating).  Nicole pulls out an eel from a hole in the ground.  Taysia holds a scorpion (aren’t they poisonous???  Colton holds a snake until he gets spooks and jumps away.  That is totallywhat I would have done, if I could be coaxed to hold one in the first place.I love that they got caught out in the rain and it didn’t phase them at all.  They all look awesome in their wet haired, less put together outfits. They are put into three teams and sent off to go look for food and drink.  Colton is on the team with Tayshia, Katie, and Nicole.  Tayshia pulls Colton off to the side for a make-out sesh, but she doesn’t do it out of range of Katie and Nicole, which of course, doesn’t go over well.  The team with Hannah G, Dami, and Hannah B catch a ride back to the resort and bring back cheeseburgers and champagne.

Love Deeper Than the Sea”

Finally we get to see Cassie and Colton’s one-on-one time.Cassie has waited 5 weeks for her date.  If you remember back to Sean Lowe’s season, his final lady, Catherine, didn’t get her first one-on-one date until week 5 either.Their chemistry is so comfortable and natural.Colton says “I needed this”.  Cassie says “I have butterflies”.They get to hang out on their own private island, which is basically a patch of sand in the middle of the sea.  Literally nothing but sand and a few rocks.  I wonder if they looked around (especially after the boat left) and felt any sense of vastness. There are several montages of the girls recognizing how much of a connection Cassie and Colton have.  I wonder what the point of that montage is.  To sell us on their relationship? To make us doubt it because they’re talking about it so much? Or maybe its because there wasn’t actually much talking on Cassie and Colton’s date.  They basically spend the whole day making out.  Did ABC need something to air?Colton brings Cassie back to his hotel room for the evening portion of this date.  Colton’s opening toast made it sound like he was ready to hand out the rose right then and there. The only substantive conversation we get is Cassie confessing that she’s not a virgin and her worry about how her family will react hearing it talked about on TV and judging her.  She’s thinking about the aftermath of the show, which is a very real reality. They end up in bed cuddling, talking, and making out.  They both acknowledge that they feel like they’ve known each other for so long.  I  mentioned it in my last blog post, but this is HUGE.Again, we don’t see the actual presentation of the rose. I suppose their chemistry is so intense, that it was obvious.Colton says “I’m crazy about you”.This girl is going FAR and may very well be the last girl standing

Drama Between Onyeka and Nicole

Onyeka should of just apologized to Nicole once she was told by Tayshia that Nicole never said she was using the show to get out of Miami. She could have SO EASILY apologized but instead she got defensive and ended up looking silly in my opinion. I wish the drama ended with the episode and I’m not looking forward to more of it next week.
